A past President of the American College of Cardiology. He gained early scientific recognition for verifying the angiographic method of measuring ventricular volumes. As one of the first to demonstrate that fibrinolytic therapy was as efficacious given intravenously as through the intracoronary route, he has been in the forefront of this field ever since.
